Different Pumps for Different Ponds

Garden ponds aren't a one-size-fits-every-backyard kind of endeavor, and your pond could be anything from a small table-top water feature to a decent-sized fish pond to an enormous pond with waterfalls, fountains, and other features. But no matter what kind of garden pond or water feature you have in your yard, most ponds and water elements need pumps to ensure the water circulates, and that there's plenty of oxygen for the plants and fish.

Sizing Up Your Pond Pump Options

We have pumps with flow rates ranging anywhere from 100 to 6,600 gallons per hour, so no matter how large or small your backyard pond, there's a pump here suitable for your needs. Before you place an order, check the capacity of your pond to make sure you get a pump with a suitable flow rate. If you end up with a pump that’s too small for your pond, you won’t get the right circulation or aeration, and you could end up with unhealthy plants, water, and fish.

Pond Pump Cleaning & Maintenance

The pump is an important part of your pond’s ecosystem, and you can get the longest life from your pump by performing regular cleaning and maintenance. Not only will this extend the life of the equipment, but it will also ensure that the water in your pond stays clean, clear, and fresh.

Weekly Cleaning: Remove the strainer from the pump and clean out any debris that has collected. The strainer is important for keeping debris out of the impeller, and the pump will malfunction if the impeller gets jammed up.

Monthly cleaning: Remove the impeller assembly and clean it. Check for limescale buildup as well. If you find any, soak the parts in a limescale remover.

As necessary: Replace worn or malfunctioning parts as soon as possible to prevent further damage to other components.

If you have any questions before or after you place your order, feel free to reach out by phone, email, or the live chat feature available on our website. We can help you make sure you get the right pump and the right parts to keep your pond clean and healthy. We can also help you out with cleaning and maintenance, discuss fish food, and help you with any other pond-related inquiries you may have.
